SELVO Rotary Switches Working Principle

The Engineers at SELVO are tirelessly doing Research and development to develop various configurations to add to the SELVO rotary switches range, and soon I will cover all of them in upcoming blogs, but for now 
I will explain the two most common configurations for phase selection which are frequently used in the industries. 

1. SINGLE POLE THREE WAYS: The term single pole signifies that it will be used for single-phase applications, and three-way means a three-way rotary switch allows the user to select from three different input power supplies.

CAM ROTARY SWITCHES ASSEMBLY

If a power cut occurs in the first phase, then you must rotate the switch to any of the adjacent second or third phases that have the power supply. Internally as shown in the above two images, The specific shape of the cam forces certain contacts to open and others to close. This re-routes the electrical flow from the different input to an output load. 
The switch has several stopping points (detents) which correspond to different output connections. These detents ensure the switch stays in a specific position once selected.

A) 32A 1 POLE 3 WAY CAM SWITCHES: Suitable for light to medium machinery, control panels, and in environments where low to moderate power handling is necessary.

2. SINGLE POLE FOUR WAYS: The working principle is the same just like the single pole three ways. But there is an addition of a fourth alternate power supply, which might be from the generator or other power source. That is why this configuration is known to be one pole 4 ways. there are input supplies of four different power sources, so By using a cam mechanism, the switch provides a reliable and durable way to manually switch between different circuits.
